STREET STYLE: "Hair, Hair, Hair... " -New York Times Article

I happened to pick up a copy of the New York Times today and found the Style section really interesting. The article chronicles the recent phenomena extreme and retro hairstyles that have more frequently been popping up around the city and Brooklyn. I love what's happening here! I have certainly also noticed some shaved bottoms/top mushroom cuts, mohawks or 'faux-hawks' and long, I-just-rolled-out-of-bed hair around the streets and parties. For a long period of time I feel like guys haven't been having enough fun with their looks- and this article brings up perfect classic rock idols from other decades, mostly the 1960's, 70's & 80's for their inspiration. Speaking of needing inspiration- check out dontjudgemyhair.com for some really "creative" 'dos.

STREET STYLE: Electric Feel

I spotted this dapper young lad all the way from across the street on Delancey. I love the entire black NYC get-up (especially on a killer hot day like today) with the adorable splash of electric yellow.

STREET STYLE: Williamsburg Pool Party

What: Jelly presents the Pool Parties-
Featuring Trail of Dead, Health, & The Black Lips
Where: East River State Park,
On the water at North 8th and Kent, Williamsburg, Brooklyn

The free 3rd annual summer concert series in Williamsburg is happening! There will be 5 more concerts, every Sunday, throughout August! All the cool kids flock to the waterside to keep cool, check out cool bands, and of course, check out one another! I caught these lovely ladies looking very W'burg chic in the 21+ beverage area. With their vintage-inspired looks and American Apparel duds these girls rocked out and despite the heat, they kept it looking cool.

Check out here for more concert information!

STREET STYLE: Summerstage Music Festival

What: The Chester French/Q-Tip Concert
Where: Rumsey Playfield, Central Park, NYC

These cool kids all made it out to enjoy a beautiful summer Saturday in the park with awesome music! Breezy, colorful sundresses are a natural go to when it's hot out and these girls rocked it, (literally too)! Hats, cut-off denim shorts and rompers were also easy, chic pieces that helped fans stay cool. Chester French played a great set and even when the announcer came on to inform people the blankets had to go because more people were waiting in line to get in the venue, the crowd kept it's cool and let the good times roll.

Summerstage in Central Park is happening all summer long-

STREET STYLE: Michael Jackson Tribute

I spotted this man on Ludlow in the Lower East Side this morning. I couldn't resist asking for a photo. His look is seriously sharp, coordinated, and patriotic. He is sporting a Michael Jackson tribute t-shirt, over a white button-up with a summer blazer on! I also love the way he has tied in his Obama campaign tote to match the colors in the shirt!! He even struck the Michael pose for me that is on the t-shirt!!! So perfect!!!

By the way, hope you had a Happy 4th of July- I thought this picture still gave quite the red, white, and blue impression!

STREET STYLE: 90's Fashion Hits NYC

In case you didn't get the memo, ridiculous 90's fashion is back in full swing. I snapped these 3 girls outside the Dolce Vita store in the Lower East Side. I'm not sure they actually lived through it the first time around but, each one of them has a serious look going on. Plaid school girl skirt ala Clueless, oversized unbuttoned flannel shirt, and their shoes are out of control. I will post more of these phenomena as I find it.
